PIc has come out fine discovery but sorry to say I have no idea!  I am not a tree person but it would probably help if yuo had a close up of the flower and a leaf or two.

Dont know the name of it but it throws runner shoots up all over the place (sorry)
I had one thought it was really nice untill I had little trees of the same growing in my lawn

Does it have scented white flowers?

If so, Actinidia kolomikta??

:) Could it be "Hibiscus tricolor tiliaceus variagata" or  "vargated mahoe" ? It is a strong grower.  :)

It's certainly not what I suggested - it has poplar leaves.

And. presumably. no flowers?

Mum & I had this in our gardens. 

It is Populus x candicans variety "Aurora" 

- new foliage on new growth splashed white and pink, Balsam scented in spring.  Annual pollarding or triennial hard pruning often recommended to increase intensity of foliage colour and leaf size.

HOWEVER, if you do chop it, the tree has an awful habit of suckering off its root system - just what you need in the middle of the croquet lawn!!

If left unpruned will get to 30 foot by 10 ft wide.    Mum left hers to grow tall, it looked great.

  :) Oh well done flowerlady, I new deep down that it wasn't the hibiscus relative that  I had found, & now you mention it there is one near us & I do remember remarking that it had a lovely aroma when in flower. Well done that lady  ;D ;D Your mystery solved discovery.  ;D
