But so much was ready!  Spuds - rocket and anya, yellow courgettes, bambino courgette, white volunteer courgettes, alderman peas, purple mange tout, globe artichoke, mix of lettuce, beetroots.  Also picked a few raspberries.....but they were gone before my camera was ready!  ;D

When did you plant out or sow the beetroots? All looks fab.

busy_lizzie

Lovely basket of goodies EJ.  I would be interested to know what variety of beetroot you have there?  They look quite elongated and different from the globe ones.  I have planted boltardy but I am always on the lookout for something new.   :) busy_lizzie

Planted the beetroots, um, March time I think.  Toooo early really as I only ended up with half a row.  As for variety BL, I don't remember off the top of my head, will check tomorrow when I am at the plot and let you know....it may have been something like cylindrical or something like that.  There is a lighter coloured one, which is a 'sport'!

They dont come much fresher than that great basket of veg ..
Beet was prob Cylindra ...I like the  Trug too ..Cheers Jim ..

What were the lettuce, EJ??

Glad to see that White Volunteer is working for you.

aquilegia

my tummy is rumbling!

I didn't realise white volunteer was a variety of courgette, I thought you meant it like with volunteer potatoes!
gone to pot :D

Mrs Ava

I shall have to try to remember to check the label when I am there tomorrow Tim, however, you know how good I am at labelling!

Busy_lizzie, those beetroots were actually forono, or torono, again, my terrible labelling to blame!

The white volunteer courgettes are growing like mad and are smothered in fruits!  The one I picked yesterday was a little large, however, I made Gavins wonderful courgette bake thingy, and used it in that grated, and it was absolutely delicious!

I have now picked 20 courgettes as I took another 2 today, and if this warm rain keeps up (please) I will be picking at least another 6 tomorrow.  Anyone have any courgette recipes??  ;D

BAGGY

Fab produce.  Where did you get your trug from ?  My mum used to have them for flower arranging.
Get with the beat Baggy

Mrs Ava

Thanks Baggy.  I have 2 trugs.  The first, a smaller one, was a freebie about 12 years ago when I first signed up for Gardeners World mag.  The second one, the one in these pics I inherited from Ava's parent neighbour when he went to that great allotment in the sky.  Not as nice as Doris Pinks gorgeous wooden one, but I can scrub is clean when it is full of mud from the spuds, and it does carry ever so nicely!

Mrs Ava

Tim, the label says Lollo Rosso.

EJ...you mentioned Gavin's courgette recipe? Where can I find it? Looked in reicpes on here and on recipes4all. Looks like I might have a glut!

Thanks
