Weeds!!!!

Having cleared my plot between Xmas and new year, dug it and now planted the whole lot......I just can't quite believe how quickly the annual weeds are growing. Much faster than I can seem to keep up with at the moment.
My hoe is the most used bit of kit i have.

I assume that because i am preventing them from going to seed that next year will be a little easier?

Don't know Mothy.  I am constantly amazed at how quickly the weeds grow in May and June.  For me, come July, the planting is pretty thick, and water pretty thin, so the annual weeds slow a little.  Hey ho, fills the old compost bin up I guess.  Just wish I could use a hoe, just can't get the hang of it, so hand weeding is the way for me.

Yesterday me and the plot were covered in flying seeds, dandylion and other fluffies. It was like a snow blizzard and went on all day long, the ground was all but covered. No wonder I do lots of weeding every year.

It's all that dormant seed that's been sitting there waiting to grow, over the years it gradually becomes less but they never go completely

You know the saying, " 1 years seeds, 7 years weeds"! That & being surrounded by unworked allotments means the weed problem is a constant I'm sad to say!

If anyone knows any recipes for Dock roots, please let me know - despite hours of digging and weeding, I'm still pulling out ones as big as parsnips!

dunno about recipes but read this... the horrors are capable of serious regeneration!
