if i take a clove of garlic and stick it in a pot of compst, will it grow into a bulb of garlic?

And do i need to take the purple skin off first and just plant the white flesh part?

Thanks
Keep getting worried that the stuff I grow will taste nasty - or turn out poisonous!

yes a clove will produce a bulb in time

you leave the immediate skin on the clove. just like you have have broken it off the bulb.

SHould it be that early!!   Oops, I planted mine in March - mind you I still have some reasonable size bulbs......or am I about to be hauled up again due to the variety thing????

My garlic, japanese onions and shallots all go in at the same time, around November time.  ;D

Icy - Oct to Feb is the usual bracket - depending on the variety.
