Off topic - site keeps hanging

I do not know whether anybody else is experiencing this but allotments4all keeps hanging on me at the moment.  It seems to be the only site that is doing it (but that might just be a proportion of time spent in one place sort of thing) but it is a right pain in the donkey.  I have to keep shutting down IE and going back through all the links and menus after about every third click on average.

For techies -
running IE version 6 SP2 on Windows XP Professional SP2 - also run Office XP Professional SP3 if that has any bearing.  Also just installed Kerio Firewall.

It's been ongoing for quite a while now, Dan the Man is struggling to find a solution but I believe he is still working at it. ;)

FAO Admin

Since I turned the firewall back on, the site has hung once or twice again.  It only stopped responding the once after I turned it off so maybe the sites problems do have something to do with conflicting with firewalls.

It is very frustrating - I know the site performace can be very poor at around 9:30 in the morning, which I am hoping to find a solution for, but I'm not sure what you mean by hanging.

Could you give me a brief explanation - and also let me know what firewall you are using - via a private message if you like.

Cheers

Dan

Sorry - hanging jsut means stops responding.  Its there and it is showing links when I hover over the buttons and even makes the clicking sound (very techie  ;D) but it does not respond.  Sometimes when I close the window down, explorer refers me to MS Online Analysis but they have no answer.  My Firewall is Kerio Personal 4.1.3 running as an internet gateway.

Hope this is helpful.

That is why it is labelled as being off topic so people can avoid clicking.  Had to put it here as it is about this site.  Did scroll down for a relevant section - I shall have another look to see if I missed it.

Another thing is I cannot view any of the photos that are attached to posts (how is that done anyway)  I can see photos that are hosted on third party sites and imported.

Sorry Tim for sending this back to the top of the board.

You could try using firefox instead of IE, the site works perfectly for me, I stopped using IE when I started having problems on another forum.
If you do switch, chances are you won't switch back.
(And it doesn't get infected with spyware- I work in I.T. and come across a lot of this)  >:(
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

I'll give it a try - I use adaware and spybot for spyware etc and AVG for virus protection (far superior to Norton in my experience and free)

Now running Mozilla Firefox and most things appear alright - it's a bit slower than IE.  Has not stopped responding on here yet but still cannot access the attached photos i.e. on Tim's 'Well - could you have resisted thread.

Also my avatar does not show - that may be the slowness.

FAO Dan - Please do move this to the correct forum if it is annoying other users.

Redclanger, I have trouble opening some photos and also get the crossed box.  Try right clicking and choose 'show photo'.  Works for me.  Foxy.
