Grass frost at Wet Wang?

Paul Hudson has jsut warned of a grass frost at Wet Wang in East Yorkshire.  I live in Lincoln and the temperature is set to fall to about 4^oc tonight.  Do I have to get my skates on and cover up my early potatoes?

Fingers crossed and hoping that you all say no.

dunno about that but earlier today radio 4 weather said there was a ground frost all over lincs......00-er!cover it all up!

i've heard tim and a few other 'old hands' say that if the frost does nip yer taters-they die off at the top but they soon grow back apparently...so...i spase its best if you fleece them thokitty

They'll grow back alright but having wasted a lot of energy on regrowing the damaged foliage the yield will be lower.
Anyhow, thanks to the frost warning I & a couple of others were seen traveling at high speed towards the allotments trailing large sheets of fleece, I noticed that one or two of the new allomenteers have planted out their runners & even sweetcorn on one plot :o, the warm weather in spring always catches out a few of the newbies, it seems that summer's arrived but then it's gone again, I just hope it doesn't put them off and convince them to give up

I was born just down the road from Wetwang, which is high up on the Yorkshire Wolds - it normally has sufficient snow each year to cut it off from surrounding villages - so a bit of ground frost at this time of year should not create panic in the rest of Europe  ;)

What a fantastic name !  Sounds like something out of a kids book.  I love unusual place names.  Pratts Bottom and Badgers Mount still make me grin.

Baggy, near us we have Upper Dicker and Lower Dicker, and Balls Green. Also a road called slugwash lane! :o (Don't think I would like to live there!) I am with you, I always childishly smirk as we go past the signs!! ;D

We moved when I was about 4 to Norton (the one near/joining Malton) but only lived there for a couple of years and then moved West to Pontefract (were't cakes come from)

Nice to know I'm not the only one who giggles over silly names - we were trying to book a cottage for a few days away last week and I tried to book one in Boggly Hole, or something like that just because I liked the name  (drink had been taken  ;D). Fortunately it was booked up don't think it would have done my 15 year old son's 'cool' image much good if he'd had to say he was going there for his hols...
