Is that Xanadu as in Samuel Tailor Collerage (excuse my spelling!) or Xanadu as in the Oliver Newton John roller skate movie?

Welcome on board, and please 'cuse my ramblings!

Hello Aquilegia,  Neither of the above came across the name when I was in the Far East , many moons ago there used to be a fabulous night club with that name and I decided to use it. It just sounded nice .

Welcome aboard, xanadu - lots of good people and good stuff around, so hope you enjoy!

And as a measure of how mad mots (lots? or most?) of us are, how about taking on an allotment and THEN finding a house to fit!

Love it, micsmum.  I'm not the only daftie, then!

All best - Gavin

And why not Gavin? I looked round the land (not then a garden) before looking at the house. One has to get ones priorities right. Welcome anyway Xanadu.

Thank you everyone for your very warm welcome. It is so lovely to see so many friendly folks with a sense of humour. I'm a proud owner of an allotment plot for about 4 yrs now. Last year I won a prize  for the best 1/2 plot was quite shocked when my name was mentioned for I acquired the plot purely for growing veg that I know have not been spray with pesticides etc...to feed the family. Last years crop didn't do too well though due to the hot summer, hope this year will be a better year for all allotment holders. If not we will all have to gather around and do the rain dance. Grin
