Borlotti

Hot and windy in sunny enfield.

Same here in Northants.  That hot wind was quite moythersome.  Felt shattered mid-afternoon.  Well maybe carrying  40 plus watering cans down the garden had something to do with it as well.

Jayb

Predictable weather here, cool, wet and windy - again.

Well we had our first glancing blow with frost.  The min/max thermometer said 3.7C a couple of nights ago, but 2 courgette plants have turned to mush.  Nothing else so far.  Fingers crossed I have some late beans flowering and the runner beans have developed another flush of flowers too, would be nice to get a late harvest there.  The Achocha have only just started this year and I am looking at several squashes that are still only half sized.  Anybody else had any damage?

Hi Galina a week ago I had to pull up all my squash plants as a very cold snap had killed them off. I have quite a few butternuts that have hard skins but they are small...still at least they are edible & do have decent seeds in them but it would have been nice for them to get a bit bigger. The cold grey start to the Summer here really delayed the growth of my squash plants as they only grew in 3 months what they would have done in weeks had there been any proper daylight. Sunshine only really started here in mid July.

Bright crisp start to the day with hard frost forecast for tonight so quite a bit of fleece to put out at my plot today

Bloomin' freezing!  Two hours on the plot pruning back the grape vines and weeding and my (admittedly bare) hands couldn't take any more - it's definitely not summer any more!

You can say that!  -2.8C according to the min/max thermometer, all the roofs very white, need to scrape the car.  Now still below zero, but sunshine and blue skies with only a few fluffy clouds.  Winter has arrived with a bang!  :sunny:
