I have a pot of strawbs in the garden, and I haven't been getting that many from them. Today I discovered why. A femal balckbird (this years) was happily helping herself to them. Shame I didn't have my camera!

Aw, don't you just love hearing their rendition of words! One of our grandkids said she was going to PeeShool soon.

I had the Blackbird problem as well. So i strung some c/ds across the strawberry bed and that seemed to help.

I grow ours mainly in window boxes, so the blackbirds leave them alone. The one large pot in the garden does feed the birds though.

The neighbour grows his in the ground, the squirrels have had most of his. It does look funny to see the little blighters run along the fence and our shed roof with his lovely strawbs. I think my neighbour would disagree though, he might net them next year.
