is the theme for today's National Poetry Day

http://www.nationalpoetryday.co.uk/

As I'm a lifelong aviation enthusiast I've quoted poems about famous aviators on my blog posts.

However I was wondering about gardening heroes and heroines!  Do you have any?

Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

I support Thrive, http://www.thrive.org.uk, a small national charity that uses gardening to change lives.

I'd definitely say my grandpa too - I have loads of his old tools including his handmade dibber that he made from a spade waaaaay before I was born which I now use for planting all my bits and bobs. His garden was always immaculate and he won lots of competitions for the best garden in East Kilbride back in the day.  Mum still has all the newspaper clippings. Have very fond memories of going out hillwalking and he always had a poly bag for the sheeps droppings for the garden. And he loved gala days when he would go along after the horses had passed by with his spade and a bucket for the same reason lol.
