I wonder if anyone can identify this bug for me

Its about 3 mm long and is shown on a stinging nettle leaf. I don't think it was eating the leaf - more likely eating the aphids on the nettle.

Hmm, well I always thought ladybird larve were black with orange spots, like the one shown here

Ahh, sorry I mis-read your post, its the pupae stage. Strange I've never seen that before.
