Has anyone out there grown this herb?

I sowed about 30 seeds and I'm now the proud owner of 1 lonely perilla plant in a 3" pot in the greenhouse. Any suggestions as to what I should do with it? (Polite answers only please!). Any ways to improve germination??

Off for a hike, then??

"Perilla smells funny, which is no wonder since you will usually find it in cow pastures. Rub leaves on your skin and clothes on hikes to repel ticks. Also a good companion plant for tomatoes. Harvest before seeds form, very invasive if allowed to seed."

Seems to cope with germination!!

Love 'hiking' but never picked up a tick yet...Lucy, pictured left, would definitely benefit from a sheep tick repellant...!

I hate ticks! I once spent a weekend walking in a remote part of the Western Highlands, and came back convered in the horrible things. i spent days picking them out of myself, and the bites itched non-stop for weeks.
