Don't know about your broccoli but it's not to soon for the rest of it. Lucky you.

And while I was sitting outside my shed at the lottie ths afternoon having a cuppa (It was well earned), a big hubbly bubbly came buzzing past.

Sow it, grow it, eat it.

What is it that you refer to as a hubbly bubbly?

I always thought a hubbly bubbly was a pipe for smoking various things in, that has a bowl with water in it.  Not sure I have seen one floating past, but I dare say it's not unheard of! :)

Reckon it might be a buzzy bumble  ;D I saw one of those recently too ... not sure if they ever went into hibernation !!

... I have White SB too  :)

The last time I saw a hubbly-bubbly was many years ago but I think it was me that was floating not the hubbly bubbly.

PS I suspect Dark Side of the Moon might have been on the stereo at the time

I feel a bit like those people who write to the papers about hearing the first cuckoo, but Iactually did see my first bumble bee of the year in the garden the weekend before last - do I get a prize? ;D

Cut the grass as well today - I fear the worst!

never too early - there is a definite hint of spring today, lighter, brighter, the birds are tweeting like never before, Kerria japonica in flower + snowdrops, primroses, Cydonia, Hamamelis

or maybe it just seems like that 'cos' I had hubbly bubbly at lunch  ;D

springbok

Had one flying round my garden yesterday.

Last year I had a nest in my garden and with the Bee society protected it with my life :)

Heres a picture showing the nest.  It was covered over by pebbles and the grass was left around it to stay close to what they were used too.  This was in the middle of my front lawn :)

I saw TWO bumble bees today on my fuschia plants that have flowered ALL winter. My neighbour's may tree is in full bloom after the sunshine during the last three/four days. I watched the sea gulls collecting moss for their nest... their timing is way off, far too early for nest building  ::)
