Going into hospital tomorrow for a total knee replacement. Hope they have a bed for me and don't cancel.  It will be good to be out of pain once it's healed and I may be able to do a bit more gardening.

Wish you all the best for the op Yorkshire Lass and that recovery will go just as fast as it can.  I know a chap who had two knees replaced and now does rock climbing!  It can be so life changing in a positive way.  How long is the recovery usually?  And yes, I hope it doesn't get cancelled, having ops cancelled once you have psyched yourself up is very difficult.  Please let us know how it goes.  Is there wifi at the hospital you can use?

Hope the rock-climbing isn't obligatory!
All the very best to you.

My OH has had both knees done now.  One took sometime for him to get over it, you may need to be patient. The other has been much quicker.  Hope things go well for you.

Hope all goes well and you are back to usual activity and pain free.

I'm so upset and annoyed they cancelled my op at the last minute. An urgent trauma case had come in was the reason they gave me!  Do they realise the disruption they cause to peoples lives. I 'd had to arrange care for my husband who's had a stroke and all the rest that goes with it.

pumkinlover

Sorry to hear that. It's so distressing and inconvenient for you.
Sadly the pressures on beds are so high and no spare capacity cause this.

Pescador

That's awful,  I know you don't need the extra stress, fingers crossed they can sort it soon.

Very sorry to hear that.  Happened to me twice with my gallbladder.  Smallish local hospital and if a bad accident comes in, it is the one surgeon who has to step up.   OH was working away and I had made arrangements for the kids.  Awful with care arrangements for OH having to be rescheduled.

Yes they realise it, I'm sure, but the doctor to patient ratio is so tight and pressure on beds too, that literally anything can upset a surgery list and so often does.  Dreadful, but only too normal I'm afraid.  And back onto the wait for you.  Wait for a new date and then wait for the day and so on.  And every day needlessly in pain is not a good day.

I feel for you, just wish I could make it better.  I'm  pretty sure it doesn't help to know that this is pretty normal.   :BangHead:

That is so frustrating.   I hope they can reschedule soon.

While you are arranging care for your husband do not forget to arrange some for yourself.
