Hi.  Can anyone recommend a good supplier with a  website?  I've tried a few but there seems to be little on offer.  The trouble is I don't really know what I want, I just need to be inspired.

When is best to plant Autumn flower bulbs? ???

Georgie

Ok folks, I'm struggling now and I really need your help.  I've looked at some of the sites and poured over my books but I keep coming up against the same problems.  Either I'm too late to plant for this Autumn/Winter flowering or the plants are not fully hardy (I have no intention of lifting) or they are prone to slug attack (I really don't need to encourage the blighters!) or they leave straggly leaves after flowering which last well into spring.

What I want is something I can plant this year for Autumn/Winter flowering, suitable for a well drained sunny border, up to 2' in height, in shades of white, pink, purple or lavender, slug resistant, scent a bonus and with foliage that dies back soon after flowering.  Am I seeking the impossible?

Hummm yes a little confused myself .. help anyone ???

I think you plant autumn flowering bulbs in August / early September?  ???

(have posted the question on the non-edible section as well Georgie) ;)

Georgie

Good thinking, Nigella.  Let's hope we get some help.  From what I've read, some need planting March/April, others late summer.  Trust me to like the ones that are for Spring planting.   ::)
