Allotments 4 All

I was informed today that my plot is about 3 metres longer than I thought it was. So I shall clear it. I have the rest of the plot already planned for planting, so this bit will be spare. I wondered if planting early potatoes would work, providing I can get some seed spuds. Even main crop would do for an autumn lifting. Whats the verdict on anybody else trying this.

I've got some Charlotte and Nadine potatoes I'm going to try with, probably in July. The late plantings grow quickly, but find Late Blight is the main issue, otherwise it would be easy peasey. If you are in an area not too prone it could work well. I've had better results planting in July rather than August. It is lovely having fresh new potatoes later in the year.
