My first try with shallots, in my garlic-treated anti-white-rot bed, and I have a lovely harvest. So, how do people store shallots, please? Ordinary onions I tie up in old pairs of tights, knot between each bulb, and hang them in a cool place, but I'm not doing that with shallots! Do they generally keep well? They have ripened nicely with dried-up necks.
My other question: I have prepared a load of them for pickling, and 2 of the bulbs are pinky-purple, they are perfectly sound, just more like a red onion than a yellow. OK for preserving, do you think?

Can I bump this? Someone out there must grow and store shallots?

I find shallots are better at storing than onions. I hang mine up in a net onion bag in the shed .
Some shallots are pinky purple in colour  they pickle as good as the white ones..
I pick some of the larger ones out to save for setting next year these go in a net bag in the shed too, no problem storing these neither..
Cheers .. Jim
