QuoteSome of the reds were very dark and had red foliage with red seed with red core to the cobs. Others were red coloured cobs but either had green foliage or green/white centre to cob core, colour was not so uniform and many you could make out crossing with other colours. I thought last year it might be fun to pick out the 'double reds' and grow them out

That's what I've been finding out too...now that makes me wonder what 'bloody butcher corn' is like..they are fully red. I was supposed to grow them last summer but they failed me..it would have been nice to compare them to the fully red PMC.
I've got some spare BB corn seed if you want to try or want to mix into your breeding project...how is it going on?

Thanks, I've always wanted to grow them but BB not the right corn for my mix at the moment. Not the best of seasons but I've the corn cobs drying at the moment. I'll see if I can find the thread and update there. I'll have seed from the sweet corn mix to share, but I'm not sure I will have enough of the se  mix to share this year, hopefully next though.

More progress with my PM crop  :icon_cheers:
Spent 4 hrs last night 'cleaning' the almost dried out cobs from seeds...my fingers HURT!
Couple of the really dark red ones dried out into black cobs...looked really freaky. I've got loads of corn now.. :icon_cheers:...so much so that I treated myself into manual corn mill... :icon_cheers: Now I have to start digging out those yummy corn bread recipes...anybody have any favourite ones?
If any body is in need of corn mill...I bought mine from here... http://www.northerntooluk.com/food-preparation/manual-grinders-and-mills/corn-grain-cereal-mill_168670E.html
I looked all over the net one and prices do vary A LOT.
