These giant veg contests, I presume they have strict guidelines on things like, in this case, the length of stem allowed, and the number of skin layers? It's certainly an amazing onion!

No there is no rules other than what is in the schedule IE heviest onion, Largest onion freshly pulled or freshly pulled neck cut to 4".

Oh my word. How big is that???  My colleagues and I at work are going to have a fun friendly competition next year by growing giant onions.  I only hope that mine gets as big as this!
