I have not sown any broads this year and was thinking is there still time to sow some in the ground and get a harvest from them  ??? ???

I don't think so, but someone else may know better.

Some varieties such as the sutton suggest sowing June which has only just finished.  If you have spare seed and spare space, if it produces little it will improve the soil. 

I grew some masterpiece longpod very late the first year I had a lottie to help clear soil of couch since it is easy to hoe between plants, and breaks up soil well, actually had a good crop but that was a bonus.  I was expecting just to dig them in.  It was my own saved seeds so no financial loss.

You could try a sowing of "Express"...I foudn it to be a bit quicker than Sutton (by about a week or so), but this year I've foudn that it is horribly susceptible to weedkiller contamination....

Normally I would say it is probably too late but this year with its cool temperatures and good supply of water!!! I would certainly have a go.

It's the high summer temperatures broad beans don't like but they will often produce a few extra pods from basal shoots so it's worth a go.

I rate the sutton very highly.

I have broadbeans showing weedkiller issues three years after the manure was spread.  Many of the leaves are pointing straight upwards.
