I have a courgette plant which instead of having one lead shoot  has produced five. There are the beginnings of tiny yellow courgettes on all of them.  Do you  think I should remove the extra 4.

I would leave them...sounds like your courgette is going to be a BIG plant..and hopefully productive one too.. ;) ;D

My yellow friulana rugosa (seeds from Saddad) always produces fruit on several shoots - it's very 'bushy' and a prolific variety too! This year I'm growing it in a large container and so far has been left alone by the slugs and snails which have decimated some of my courgette/squash plants  :(.

This one Russian from Estonian seed co.

Courgettes here are going backwards due to lack of sun and heat...... too much rain and wind so far.  :(

No problems with wind on courgettes, very windy site, so all courgettes protected with sweet peas, broad beans, straw and/or potatoes.  But the rain and slugs are causing problems.
