I see it was back in April that I posted a photo of our peas' support for the small row I'd planted, with the encouragement of my husband.  Now I am so delighted I did it, as we have had our reward. i picked our first 2lbs five days ago, and today, very conveniently, we have harvested all the rest, another 8lbs.  Extraordinarily they were all ready, some slightly on the small side, some a good size, but none too big or old at all.  And they haven't grown too tall, so have stayed well self-supported.
They are now all in the freezer in bags, ready to enjoy every little mouthful later in the year.  They are absolutely my number one favourite veg.

Congrats Peanuts, they do look good.  Here the first few mangetouts are ready too, but we are definitely not yet into harvesting by the pound  :)

Wow, well done I'm jealous. Every year I want to get more peas as never really get enough to take away from the allotment (eat them when there). I have tried this year again with tall peas (colossal and alderman - may be the same thing) and shorter (3 different types that I cant remember). I stupidly left one uncovered and the pigeons had lots but they are now recovering. Shorter ones doing ok but nowhere near as good as yours, taller ones really struggling to do much at all.

Oh well, my usual refrain - next year I will get more peas....

Well done.  I have a few and also some mangetout, but yours look amazing.

With a bit of luck I will be eating our first ones this weekend. I never have enough for the freezer! But we love eating them so fresh! I have Early onward, Alderman and a couple of climbers that I got in a swap.
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Wow I'm impressed! I thought I'd done quite well to pick a few the other day. Mine are douce provence and much taller. have had a real trouble keeping the pigeons off. Now they are so netted I shall have to work at getting in myself! Still should have a good picking at the weekend now the rains have come ;D

We had some as mangetout today...  :)

I haven't tasted any at all as we've frozen the lot!  What restraint!  The variety is a round dwarf pea, Petit Provençal.
