Allotments 4 All

The last couple of weeks have been very dull here and everything on the windowsill have gone leggy, especially tomatoes.  One in particular has grown about a foot and is now about 18'' high.  I am considering taking out the growing tip so that one of the side shoots takes over.  What do you think?

With mine I put a stick in the side of the pot to keep them more or less straight til planting out, then planting out buried them quite deep - been out for a week now and looking fine.

just plant they deeper when pottting on in largeer pots.

Really cold here, cannot go outside yet. 

It is sungold, though it is quite different from its friends so might be a weed.

But I am not very good at removing side shoots, I reckon to have several shoots from one stem.

Didge, don't cut anything off, just repor them into a bigger pot and bury the stem, you can remove a few lower leaves then bury it deep, even if you have to slightly curl it in the pot carefully of course, it will get roots along the stem and the plant will be very strong,just leave the top six inches or so out of the soil..or when you plant thenm out lay the stem sideways in the hole with the growing point at one side, the plant will straighten  up after a few days. don;t be afraid to bury the stem..it is called trenching and some folks do oit as a matter of course .
I have buried two foot of stem  with just the top few inches above the soil and got a super plant.
