What do I do? It is on my patio just three feet from the patio door. I believe they are bumble bees and are nesting in the moss etc left by the birds last year.

Can I discourage them before they finish the nest, it is a bad palce for them to be.

No matter what type of bee it is you can contact a local beekeeper and they will help relocate them if not wait till night time and block the entrance hole with cardboard and sticky tape and then relocate it.  They normally keep quiet at night time so should be easy to move.  If screw fixing is inside make a screwdriver size hole through cardboard and use it to guide it to the fixing.

Think we have the same problem. Could put a saddle on the some of them I've seen buzzing about :-\

They're beautiful creatures and we'd be in trouble without them - sure someone can help move them humanely.

A few years ago we had some bumblies set up home in the grass bank barely 2' from our shed door on the lottie. They spent the whole summer coming and going and only got a little grumpy if we stood two abreast in their path.
I was a little concerned at first but they truly weren't a problem.
We extended the shed the following year so they didn't return 'tho we often have one or two buzzing about in the shed . :)

They would be a problem where they are, the box is just three feet above my freezer. XX Jeannine
