Started sowing various tomatoes for competition on 22/1 & more on 2/3.
Earliest were leggy so replanted them deeper & are ok, later ones are not all thru yet.
Some of the other veg sowings were put on a sunny S/W facing windowsill & they are good & strong( sweetcorn, cauliflower, courgette, salads & kale) whilst others kept in warm area but not as much light have been slower or not thru yet- so have moved these to S/W windowsill.
"Seed trays everywhere"  complaints will begin soon. . . ;D

It seems a but early to me to be sowing sweetcorn and courgettes, do you keep them in a grass house all through April.

 Digeroo,

I grow my veg in the garden which is south/west facing so once hardened  off I put into garden after last frost

Have always had good sweetcorn although only 3/4 cobs per plant

The big double propagator is out and filled with all my chillies, peppers and tomatoes sown on the 14th march. I only have a cold greenhouse to grow on in, so I sow about now and they romp away. I have had trouble getting my usual compost this year though, I have used B&Q multipurpose compost with added John Inness so I ended up buying separate bags of compost, Jonh Inness and vermiculite and have mixed up my own formula..... We will see how it works!
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

I had quite good sweet corn last year but had not thought of getting them going this soon.  Might give it a try.  I have a large packet of Earlybird from moles so will not mind if I loose some.  I never seen to manage more than two cobs per plant.

Problem is our allotments are very very windy.  Mr North-West Wind Esq rips through.  I do have a much more sheltered garden but it does not get as much sun and the sweet corn does not like it very much.

Good luck mixing your own compost.
