Hi,
I have got a couple of small apple trees on my plot. i have had good fuit from it last year but i have noticed this year that the bark is "rotting" on one of them.
is it ok?
the inside seems to be solid enough and there appears to be new branches which are fine.

Can you describe what you see in a bit more detail, or post a pic? Is any sap leaking out, or any fungal growth visible?

clackvalve

the bark appears to be peeling off, there is no sap leaking and underneath the bark it appears fresh wood

It sounds as though it's dead.

You may just have a damaged area of bark. Keep an eye on it, and if it develops any aymptoms let us know.
