How did this happen?

There's probably a simple explanation - being a computer idiot it's probably something daft I've done.

Trying to type in an email address the @ symbol comes out as ".  I finally found the @ symbol - hiding under the " key! They were in their right places yesterday - does anyone know what's happened, please?

It thinks you have a European (or perhaps US?) keyboard - took me ages in a Spanish internet cafe to send an e-mail once! How it happened I don't know, but I'd rummage around in control panel to correct it. Actually, I'd just put up with it but that's me!

Grandma

Thanks, Ollie.

I'm just mystified as to how they changed places since yesterday! As long as it's only those two characters that have changed places I'll just put up with it like you do - at least until someone clever visits and can 'rummage around in control panel'!

Grandma

@ and " have gone back to their correct places today!

Now I'm really spooked! I think I've got gremlins!

You probably have US and UK keyboard layouts installed - a few items are in different places.  If you are bothered then you can remove the US keyboard - I would give instructions but it will instructions but  it depends on whether you are on Xp, Vista or Win 7...
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

I'm on painkillers and antibiotics but none of those names ring a bell. Sorry! x

You will find there is also a keyboard combination (often Alt+ Shift) that toggles the different keyboards on and off. You probably pressed it by mistake and on the next startup the computer has gone back to its default...

If I am trying to type to quickly then I dont keep my finger on theshift key long enough then it comes out as ' instead of @

                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"
