Purple basil going green

Just wondered if anyone else had noticed this. Some of the leaves on my purple basil (Thompson & Morgan seed) have turned green or partially turned green. Only a few plants affected but the ones that are have been most stressed (the smallest seedlings planted near the edge of the container).

My thought is that the stress has caused whatever genetics/pollination method used to create the purple has reverted/undone itself. If anyone has a better grasp of this then I'd be interested to know.

No sign of the green basil turning purple.

I have also noted a slight difference in taste - the purple basil is a little less powerfully 'basil' & has a slight vegetably taste. Both are very pleasant.

Is it being shaded by the larger ones in the middle? I find it can go a bit green if it doesn't get enough sun..  :)
