Please anyone know where I can get hold of  preserving or kilner jars suitable for pickled onions, at a reasonable price.

I noticed some in the Pound shop the other week and Wilkies do them as well. Other than that just use your own spent jars
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I use old jam-pickle-and sauce jars with the pop up centre on the lids as well as clip-top(Beware of cheap imitations) and a screw top jars from Dunelm Ikea and other places

Please read the reviews as I haven't had the experience they have had I do find that the clip top jars I have used this year I have had to use 2 rubber seals to seal them this year as I put my pickles -jams
beetroot etc. in hot which causes a vacuum seal, think I'm gonna stick with the  old jam-pickle-and sauce jars with the pop up centre on the lids as well as the screw top jars in future its not very nice when you leave your stuff to mature for 6 months to find its gone off

I should have mentioned I did use spent jars, but someone O/H chucked em away.  ::)

i got some of those with flip lids and found stuff had gone off thought it was my fault didnt think to question  the seal as the jars and  seals were new

I got three proper, real Kilner jars at TKMaxx for £4.99, quite large ones, have a look round, Wilko's are usually good too

This time last year I bought large Kilner jars from Asda for £1 each. I've seen them in Quality Save but can't remember how much.

if your going to buy proper jars DONT BUY CHEAP they have rubbish seals as the lids are twisted, so i got some from lakeland proper kilner jars they do all sizes its worth the money.
I do also use old jam jars etc never had a problem with them.

I got 3 branded kilner jars (the screw top type but they also had the flip top type) from sainsburys today as they were on sale at 33% off

I have a load of kilner jars, but more recently I have moved on to using saved glass jars and buying new lids for these. We have a supplier near is and I go in and buy the lids in bulk.
