I harvested my ripe Ebony and Ben Connan blackcurrants today and was able to make a taste comparison of them.
Ebony is much sweeter and not so acid as Ben Connan. I let others on the plot make comparison of them as well, and all much preferred Ebony.

Now you need to repeat the test when they are cooked..you could find liking the ben connan better..particularly when cooked into something sweet..cake or something..that bit of acidity may bring the flavour out better.

The beauty of Ebony is that they are easy to eat fresh, without cooking.

We've got ben connan and they are very sour. But still wonderful though! The kids are obsessed with them.
