Allotments 4 All

I am growing red veined sorrell for the first time and have enjoyed the leaves in salads since early spring.

It is now going to seed.

Do I cut it back?  Let it seed?

It's really best used in Spring. Later it looses its flavour and gets tougher. If you want more plants, you can let it self seed (which it is very good at). Otherwise cut back seed heads to save on weeding next year. You'll be able to harvest new leaves if you keep doing this, but at this time of year there are better tasting greens to be had.

I definitely don't need any more plants so will cut back the seed heads.
