Hi all,

Is it to late to plant sprout seeds?

Thanks.

Are you 'talking' about brussel sprouts? Well..if you haven't sown them yet it is getting bit too late now.
If you were to sow some now they will germinate and grow but you won't get any brussels out of them for christmas..you may get some as spring crop next year though.

The life span of a brussel sprout is 34 weeks from sowing to final harvest - do the math and you can see that it's getting late. Mine were sown in early April and now are well over knee height. Plants might be oK if they are big enough.
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

I would ask around someone might have too many or perhaps a car boot sale.

In reply to Digeroo     NOOOOOOOOO !  :o You may be importing club root into your plot.  Never, never, never bring in brassica seedlings from 'someone helpful.

Once you've got it, you will always have it.    Cheers,   Tony.

Never seen club root, so it is not an issue for me.

If plants are module sown in compost, which I presume sellers do, would clubroot still be an issue?

I sometimes buy brassica seedlings from the local farm shop , when he plants up his fields he sometimes has these huge trays with 192 plants in left over, he sells them for 10p a plant, and they are bloody good plants.  No clubroot there, all nursery grown in compost.
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.
