Allotments 4 All

Is there a weed that looks like carrot tops................. or have my twin 3 year olds emptied a packet of carrot seeds on my onion plot. They are only in one place.

Told you the question was dumb, and no I didnt think to have any pics. sowwy  :)

yes it is a bit like that. I'll have to see if I can take pics tomorrow when im down there. Its funny its just one small bit. Thats why it made me think that just maybe the boys had been mucking about with seeds on the plot, but I havent taken seeds down for ages.

Nigella seedlings (love in a mist) can look very carroty too... including a small yellow/orange taproot...  :-\

Are they fumitory seedlings?

I also felt confused this year as they were popping up near the carrot bed.

Well I'd think that was a carrot!  :o

ok had my site rep look at it his concesus was a weed. so its being pulled.

And I did! But once they get a little bigger it becomes clear they're not. Plus the other tip off is that they grow all over the place, and there's no way I could be that messy with carrot seed, even on a windy day!  ;D

I've got one too.... I've got nigella and I can tell the difference.... I leave the nigella, the seed is a useful indian spice called kalonjii... my weed I think might well be a wild carrot, it always comes out looking like a carrot root that's just rubbish... ie thin and spindly......
