I love celariac but my soil dries out so quickly I don't think I have a chance.  The soil does hold water above it if you tread it down and compact it, has anyone tried creating a sort of pond for their celariac.

Jayb

I'm a celariac lover too  ;D Yum yum.
I've been growing them for a few years and overall I'd say they are well worth growing. I was a  bit lapse with feeding last year so not as big as they could have been. Fingers crossed I do a better job with them this year!

Anyone want any celeriac Monarch seeds? I had some seeds delivered from Mr Fothergills this morning, this was a free packet and I don't need them!

PM me your address if you'd like them.

and what did you feed them with Jayb?

Jayb

Usually aim for a bit of pelleted chicken manure raked in at planting out time and then an organic fertilizer a bit later on.

Have tried to grow celeriac in the past but had rubbish result (too much greenery & not enough celeriac)

Have still got seeds which are about 3/4 years old so will see if they are viable on damp kitchen roll &

if so, will try again using A4E peeps info & good advice ;D

Am loathe to give up on it yet . . . ;D

jokey

i grew some last year for the first time, they were an after thought and i really didn't do much with them except water.  anyway we discovered we loved them and they grew fantastic.

i have a feeling this year when i'm looking after and faffing too much with them they are going to let me down. at the mo i only have 12 out of 24 seedlings up so fingers crossed :)

ps i plant them with my carrotts etc
