Dear all

I have been phoning round our local suppliers to try and get a discount for our gardening group for layers pellets. They have all said that from Dec 1st the prices are to go up by 50p per sack due to 'higher wheat prices'.

I was trying to get a discount but realise I need to be ordering larger quantities. If we could get together and order a lot between us we could perhaps save a bit of money.

Let me know if you would be interested.

Hi Rob greetings I've just joined I'm from Hodthorpe allotments in derbyshire near nottinghamshire border

What are they saying how much have you got to order to get discount as my feed bin just about empty and I currently give home to 21 chickens and 5 ducks so get through 100kg of food in about 4 weeks

So might be worth  :)

100kg in 4 weeks for 26 birds is a lot of food. I need to do some calculations but don't think I use even a third of this amount of food per bird.

To keep cost down I am always looking for ways to grow my own feed.

I have a calculator here where you can put in the daily ration and number of birds to get weekly totals.
The average is 125gm a day if they are eating little else. The figure of about 100kg a month is about right.

So far I have not got much of a discount unless ordering a pallet (50 sacks!). Petrol being the price it is, distribution costs can make or break any sharing.
