Allotments 4 All

I had a few comments that pictures were needed - so today i got out my camera.  Top three photos are the new ladies (after that some of their friends!)





Here is one of our one and only cockerel - who has only started crowing - and sounds like he has a sore throat lol!

Lovely chooks, I remember when my cuckoo maran was that size... now she's huge and still has only ever laid a couple of eggs!

Is their run fully enclosed?

Yes the run is fully enclosed.  But every other year we move the enclosure to another patch.  I then grow veg on this patch - it works really well as the ground is so well fertilised.

I am sorry i have no idea what types they are.  We had a broody hen and are farmer gave us a selection of eggs for sitting on and we kept the chicks.  I must ask him what type they are.

The light bird in the foreground, second to last photo looks very Araucana to me. Lays bright blue eggs.

What lovely birds, some great colours there.  I would love to keep some more unusual breeds but as we keep getting ex-bats foc we rather seem to be sticking with the ASA browns.

There is nothing wrong with ex pats - they are still lovely and have there own characters and beleive me you are probably still getting some eggs - havent had eggs for months lol!

The grey with whitish 'spots' is cockoo maran and is type of breed that should lay dark brown eggs sometimes with odd spot on too...generally good quantity of eggs too..

Good news - i look forward to when she starts : )
