yesterday i dug up two rows of potatoes and dried them for today (in the greenhouse as it started to rain).

Today i have two sacks full.  One for storing and one for must eat asap!  Today i spent two hours brushing off the soil, checking for damage and putting in their two piles.....two hours....!?!?  I now look back and think is that a bit OTT but i wanted to do as much checking to reduce any storage hiccups - i would be devasted to go to the garage for my spuds in a few months time and they be ruined....but still two hours lol!

As you can tell its my first year ever storing spuds!

Yes, you probably are mad, but that's why you're here  ;)

I don't worry so much second season I do something, but I can drive myself crazy the first time..over every little thing  ::)

Welcome to A4A....Asylums for Allotmenteers   Beanie  ;)
Scrubbing spuds for 2 hours will deffo bring the straight jacket boys knocking at your door
I wipe off excess mud before drying and leave the rest on as they store better
Wash the asap's when you use them
Tip out the sacks every few weeks checking for dodgy ones
I find that tipping and putting back brush's off the mud so you can check them better.
I used to spend hours pulling out weeds on my knee's until my lottie neighbours introduced me to the hoe
;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

lol - thanks peeps.  I am sure next year i will reduce this time to an hour and the third year so on so on......i wouldn't do it if i didn't enoy it though!

I just loved sitting in my greenhouse, brushing the mud from my spuds, listening to my chickens clucking and my cat bumble trying to play and get in the sack - just can't beat it : )
