I harvested my sweetcorn yesterday and tried it last night. Wasn't as sweet as I thought it'd be, and a little too fibrous for the kids too enjoy. Do you think I can dry the kernels and use it as popcorn instead. I'm too tired to make chutney having spent all day doing this with the marrows.

sweet corn is entirely different animal compared pop corn.
if let dry on plant you might get a some what decent corn meal.
otherwise  you options  are limited.

Yes..that's right..no popping with sweetcorn..
popcorn has this really tough 'membrane' inside..around the centre of the seed..when heated..the steam in centre cannot escape through the 'membrane' so eventually it 'explode'..turning into popcorn...
Now matter how tough and chewy you sweetcorn..it is not structually right kind of maize..
....just had to let that out of my brain.. ::) ;D
..have you got any chickens?..or even better...do a swap with somebody who has...for eggs.. ;D

It costs very little to try but if all else fails, larger birds enjoy it.

If you have a stick blender, you could try to make some cream of corn soup. or use the kernals added to stews.

A lot of messing about though.
