Hi davyw 1 thanks for your reply, all it says on the schedule is two red chillies, as i said im new to showing and the only thing ive got worth showing are red chillies and no clue as to how to prepare them, so any advice will be very gratefully received.

Ninnyscrops.

I don't show chilli peppers but according to page 95 of The RHS Horticultural Show Handbook (pop it on your Christmas wish list if you are going to take up showing  ;)):

Merits: Fresh bright fruits with clear skins of a colour according to cultivar.
Defects: Fruits that are dull, misshapen, shrivelled or poorly coloured.
Advice to judges: Look for uniform, fresh, bright fruits.
Condition = 5 points
Uniformity = 3 points
Size =  2 points
Shape = 2 points
Colour = 3 points

I'd leave about an inch of the stem on or as close to, if you can.

Good luck at the show.

There you go you have got the basics i would suspect the judges would be looking for two chillies of equal size and color I have never shown or dressed them but before benching i would give them a very light wipe with olive oil to put a nice shine on them leaving no excess oil on the chilly

Hope this helps and good luck

Thanks all for the info, i will follow the advice and see how i get on.

Tee Gee

Put them on a piece of black cloth to enhance them.

What you are trying to do is get them noticed.

See how the black background enhances these onions relative to the others stage more traditionally.

Tut Tut Dave............Olive oil ::) :o  ;D
