how come the potatoes to get blight were the ones that are supposed to be resistant! Scarpo mira!

Strange.  However the Sarpos are very blight resistant, not totally immune to it.  And there are several strains of blight around.

Legend is a blight resistant tomato and some years it works great, other years not at all, just depends on the blight that happens to be around.  We only used to have one strain of blight in the UK, but that changed about ten years ago, when a second strain arrived and they started breeding and producing a number of different strains.

Maybe you have just been unlucky.

The latest strain, blue 13, can overcome the blight resistance of any potato available now.

Whatever resistance mechanism the plant's using doesn't affect it. I can't say more because I don't know how the resistance works.
