Hi,

I'm growing asparagus peas this year but no idea what to do with them. They are growing well and look ready to pick. But do i eat them whole, pod and all or do i de-pod them?

I think they're the ones you eat whole - maybe stir fry them or something.

Just compost them and cut out the middle man.

Seriously these are barely edible when very small if they have grown to any size they will be as string as, well, string!
The flowers are pretty though ;)

Tin Shed

Usually grown once and then never again ;D

You have to pick them about an inch long otherwise they are just too stringy, but never got that far so don't know what they taste like. They were another one of my experiments!

I think if you have anything in the pod they may be too far gone. They need picking very young, certainly no more than 2 inches long, just top and tail. You'll need plenty of butter, salt and pepper, best of luck.  Oh, and don't expect them to taste of asparagus......

Throw them away and eat a cardboard box instead.
If you grow them next year put them in the flower border as they are quite pretty to look at.
