I had a load of cow manure delivered last September, but I still have some left unused. The top of the pile is very hard and comes off in a solidchunks, but underneath it is fine. Will the chunks break down in the soil over winter or can I use them in any other useful way.

I look forward to you replies.

The "crusty" manure will break down in the soil just like the other or you could lay it amongst your fruit bushes later in the year to give them a boost for next season.
You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose
