How productive is crown & sceptre calabrese please. Just wondering how many I need to plant?

never heard of it hence me not replying sooner.

If it is a F1 hybrid it should be OK if not there can be substantial differences between varieties.

I have a few on the go.  Will be able to tell you more in a few months.  ;D  I currently have about 5 plants got the packet last year in a sale.  Nice looking plants at the moment but no sign of any heads.

I have grown this. It is just the same as any  other one that you would  first cut the central head and later cut the side shoots that would grow. No more no less.It is just a fancy name.

Just wondered if it was a good cropper?

I don't remember anything  other than the central head was smaller than others that are this type, but on that basis I would have to say  OK cropper but not out standing..Sorry..it is not in my "prime stash",  that is for varieties that are a must do every year for me.  I wouldn't bother  buying it again.

I have had a look at the picture and yes I would say it is more of a broccoli than a calbrese meaning the head is generally smaller and it sprouts like a 'sprouting' broccoli.

My guess it has been bred to fill the gap between summer calabrese and spring sprouting broccoli.

Another factor is; it is not an f1 so I wouldn't expect too much from it.

Hopefully for your sake I am wrong!

Try a  variety called ' Marathon' next year, I find it can be sown to give a sept/ oct crop!
