I have been harvesting this morning and what a collection of plenty, reasonable and rubbish.

Currants/red/white /black-more than I can get through. Raspberries ditto. Cherries-well my tree is in the wrong place so never grew up but at least I can fleece it-about 3lbs of lovely ripe fruit.

Peas-well about three helpings I guess-nothing special.

And the rubbish?-three potato plants looking finished but not blighted for a handful of slightly large marbles-well it`s been very dry

Cleo, I'm envious of your cherries. We've had a tree for years that is supposed to be self-fruitful but
have only had about two cherries on it per year despite many flowers. We added another type cherry tree and a
bush cherry- still nothing, yet they all look healthy and green.[/color

I wrote the company with questions but
received no helpful answers.

GrannieAnnie -my cherry is an example of how getting it wrong can lead to something good.

Variety `Inga`-self fertile and many, many years ago I had a girl friend whose name was Ingrid but known as `Inga`-upon such important factors are varieties chosen.

It was planted in the shade of a walnut tree which just kept growing and we then decided to divide that part of the garden with yew hedging.

The poor little tree never did get much more than a dwarf but as I said I can fleece it to stop the birds.

Next door they have a large handsome cherry but it`s too big to fleece-they lose everything :-)
