Hi All, looking for some advice. Better Half knowing I have been looking for butternut seeds to buy bought a packet of Winter Cobnut F1 seeds today thinking they were the same thing. Anyone tried them before?Do they taste similar to butternut squash and are they worth growing? If not I'll wait and get the butternut seeds. Cheers in advance for any advice.

Absolutely no idea about cobnut,  but I have a few butternut F1 seeds going spare if you would like them.  Nothing special I don't think bought them at Wilkos but have used what I want.

IT IS a butternut!!Cobnut is it's name, butternut is the varietyGo ahead and sow it..it is probably the earliest maturing butternut variety.It is called Winter Cobnut  because it is a winter squash ie it keeps  through the winter as opposed to a summer squash whch doesn't.


This one comes up each year so to help I include a list of other butternut varieties.

Hunter,Avalon,Harrier,HawkHercules,Hornet,Ponca.Sprinter,Ultra,Argonaut,Atlas,Betternut,Early Butternut,Mathilda.Quantum,Betterbush,Metro, your Cobnut and the original Waltham ..  there are many more.

Thank you for the compliment, but I am only a help with toms, corn and squash.. useless with most everything else!!

Anniversary we spent clearing our new lottie plot, and the pressie should be here tomorrow. I have been tracking it with fed ex from PEI which is the opposit side of the country to me, anyway it is showing as delivery tomorrow..I am so excited, I have the wall cleared for it and seeds standing by!!!
