Can someone tell me what the bright point of light is thats below the Moon at the moment (21:30) is?

Go on, go have a look. The Moon is also a real stunner at the moment (if your into that kind of thing  :-[).

Its far brighter than Sirius, and cant be an aircraft, not with the current news, and not that its moving anyway.

Excellent !

With Mars also high in the sky (horizon side and nearly in line with Pollox and Caster, the Gemini Twins, and orange-ish in colour.)

What a planet-fest were having at moment, if your in to all that  :-[ :-[ :-[
