We recently planted some strawberries & blueberries & also moved a couple of gooseberry bushes in our fruit cage. They were well watered at the time & a good manure mulch & ericacious put round them. Would it be best to water them later on in the day or early morning as it is quite cool first thing?

With any new plant we are told to "water in" straightaway.  Apart from that I think plants like to be watered in the early evening. I have just watered two small flower beds. In the past I have not been successful with outside sowing but will have to wait and see.

Water early morning or evening. The second is generally considered better as the ground will remain wet for longer and moisture should reach the roots. However do bear in mind that damp soil in the evening is liked by slugs and snails!
Don't water in strong sunlight as wet leaves can get scorched.

Try not to use tap water for your blueberries, they thrive better on rainwater.

For those evening... for softer stuff like lettuce, morning, because of the slugs...

We have 2 full water butts so no problem with the blueberries ;).
