Hi Folks,
Does anybody know the laws on opening the allotment shop on Easter Sunday?
We usually get loads of people down that weekend.
Thanks,
John.

Do it and don't ask. I doubt whether it's against the law these days anyway. Plenty of shops open on Bank Holidays.

If it has a membership then its a private club and can open when it likes - compare to places like JTF,   same principle,  membership only and they open 10-7 on most sundays !!

Easter Sunday and Xmas Day are different, i think the law compels everyoen to shut then.
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

I think the law is that large supermarkets etc are not allowed to open on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day but small ones are. Our local small co-op opens so I am sure you will be within the law. Without googling I think garden centres and the like are exempt from this law.

If as stated that you must be a member to purchase from the shop then you can open when you like as only members can make a purchase so you are not selling to the general public

Our lottie shop is open Sat and Sundays and only closes Christmas day Boxing day and the weekend of their annual flower show.
I think as davyw1 says it might have something to do with the club status, ours is owned and run by the local horticultural society though I know of NON members that sneak in  ;)
sanity is overated
