morning.

we have decided to take down the dodgy glasshouse on our plot over the winter as it is just too risky to be in, but leave the base which gives 2 x 10 foot raised beds with a path in between. now we have been considering making 2 mini polytunnel effects (bigger than cloches, smaller than tunnel) to sit on top of the walls. they can then be easily lifted off for messing about with the plants but will give more heiight than a coldframe. if i do this do you think i can still grow peppers and aubergines? height will be about 4 foot probably.....

hoping to save up for a proper tunnel next year..

i know you can grow peppers and stuff outside but i'm not sure its possible in whitley bay!

there's a very keen gardener (also a professional gardener) down my road with a huge garden - he has grown tomatoes outside, but he says mostly they won't go red as far north as us in Whitley

I live in Stanley (not far from you) and i have grown tomatoes outside for years. All they need is a wind break around them (polythene is all i use) and the wife hasn't complained yet about their taste (which is unusual as she always complains).
