Allotments 4 All

Hello all, Happy New year and all that , now.... does anyone know of or have a rousing good way of running a expense book for my lotty this year.
Last year was all fine and dandy but in amongst everything the real cost of me tatties and beans got lost in the wind.  Tools yr 3 , + manure+seed or seedling cost + compost+pots etc etc etc . get my drift ...... so if anyone knows of a good but simple piece of software or suchlike I would be ever so grateful indeed.

I agree, you dont need anything complex, Ive run £3,000,000, IT hardware rollouts on two spreadsheets and MS Project Gannt chart, im sure it can handle a list of your lotty costs!!

I could never accomplish this as I give away too many seeds and lots of my produce

Growing food to eat is important but sharing with others is part of the joy for me. I don't think I could put a cost on it.

even if i wanted to do thid,i know without doubt i would forget to keep it updated,so it wouldnt be a true record anyway. and how would i record the seeds packets that i buy and hide from OH (not to mention the ones he think i havnt noticed him buying)

Ive just been writing it all in my diary as I go along.  ;D

Allotment year 1 (2003) I started keeping an account of what we spent, but after a couple of months it got a bit out of hand, and I didn't like what I was seeing (spend spend spend) so stopped that silly idea.

I think we spend a lot less now we have all the tools, netting, soft fruit in etc, and pretty much all we have to buy is seeds  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Now, so long as we have enough to feed us what we like for most of the year, enough pleasure from growing it, the company of the other allotment-holders and enough to give away to friends and rellies, we don't need to count the cost.  :) :) :) :)
